Alltraders V Motley Crew - 27th October 2000 - 18:30

Well, it seem I was wrong. It has been decided that last weeks abandoned games will indeed go ahead on the same night that the knockout stages were due to be played. This means that the knockout stages are to be put back one week to the 29th December. The bad news is that the Leisure centre is closing at 8:00pm on that night, so only the top two from each league will qualify as opposed to the top four as first promised. This decision has lowered Alltraders chances of qualifying to that of bordering on fantasy, so even at this early stage it looks like we will now be playing the rest of the season just for pride.

Alltraders opposition tonight are our old favourites, Motley crew. Having played this team many times over the previous few years, an entertaining game was a real possibility on yet another dark and drizzley late Autumn night.

One positive sign was that Alltraders were again fielding a full team of five players with one sub. So, with Kirsty the camera girl otherwise engaged and Tim suffering from the start of a nasty cold, the side of Warren, Kevin, Paul, Andy and our goal-a-game hero Tony took to the pitch. Tim's task tonight was to coach from the sidelines and act as stand-in camera person in Kirsty's absence.

Andy is ready for the off A word from our hosts Ref, that mouse keeps putting me off...
The ref can hardly contain himself Let's get going The tackles were hard (but fair) tonight

Alltraders started the game vigorously, mounting wave after wave of attacking play on the Motley goal. Sadly for Alltraders, a mixture of excellent goalkeeping and some quite staggeringly bad finishing kept the game scorelesss right up to half time.

A rare smile from Paul Another fine save from the Motley goalkeeper Tony on the charge
Warren also played A Motley throw sends panic throught the Alltraders defence Tony on the charge again...

The second half saw more continued attacking play from Alltraders. Time after time shots were either saved superbly, or ended up on the balcony. Was it going to be one of those nights again?

Fortunately not. A quick throw from Kevin found Andy unmarked with time to bring the ball down and smash a corker of a goal with just one minute left on the clock.

Andy gives it his all Pick that one out Give me five...

With no real time for Motley to respond, Alltraders finished the game worthy winners...

More shots on goal Andy looking relaxed,,
Tony still batlling on The ref calls it a day
